To whom it may concern:

Last year a good friend of mine, by the name of Gertrude, passed away. Gertrude was an active, retired professor with a love for life and everything in it, especially her two dear “kitties”, “Mickey” and “White”. On each visit with Gert our conversation always included stories of her cats and my cats. She was an avid animal lover who relished having one of her kitties cuddled in her lap, even more so during the year that she was ill.

When she did pass away, knowing her desire that her cats be cared for, I, along with other friends began the task of finding homes. “Mickey” was easy~~a dear and close friend of Gertrude readily took him in to share her home. Finding a home for “White” proved to be a challenge. “White” was elderly, had eye problems, had recently been diagnosed with diabetes and was new on insulin.

The number of phone calls made over a three week period, not only by me but other friends trying to find placement for “White” was mind boggling. The result was always a negative response with a typical suggestion that he be put to sleep. As this “solution” was unacceptable to us, we continued our search.

Late one night as I searched the web for rescue facilities that I had not contacted, I came across “Real Rescue”, located right here in Edmond, OK. Early the next morning I called Real Rescue and spoke with Dana Venters, owner and manager. I repeated my tale of woe as I had many times before and expected the usual rejection. What a blessing and a wonderful surprise when without hesitation Dana said “yes, we can take “White”. The only discussion of money came about when I suggested that I would like to make a donation in Gertrude’s name. Two days later the veterinarian, Dr Sharon Emmons, who works with Real Rescue, gave me a call to report the findings of her exam on “White”. What a wonderful and caring person she seemed to be.

I can’t possible praise Dana and Real Rescue enough. The compassion and love that she has for all animals, even older and debilitated ones, cannot be overstated. This world needs more people like Dana and Dr. Emmons, who willingly give of their time and resources to care for those furry creatures that so lovingly become a part of our lives. “Real Rescue” is the “Real Deal.” I thank Real Rescue for being there in my time of need; and as for Gertrude, she probably is looking down from her place on high and saying “bless you, Real Rescue for taking care of my kitty”.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Noel Rodman
